Question: I had a spinal fusion on L4,5, the Nuro surgeon felt I may need a second fusion on L2,3. My surgery was in May. I have had excruciating pain from my upper back, into my groin since my surgery. I feel my surgery was successful, however I feel I need 2,3 fused, this is causing my pain.
I met with my surgeon today, he felt I need an ultrasound, this was not an issuewith my spine, the surgeon felt it is with my organs, what is your opinion?

Brief Answer:
I think is a failed surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you should have been better in three months and pain should have been lowering gradually. I think your surgery is failed. This excruciating pain is not normal and should have been getting better with time.
I think you need the next intervention soon but after proper examinations by orthopaedic surgeon.
You can take pain medication and may be narcotics to tapper down the pain.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
