Question : I had surgery to repair a labral tear in my hip about five years ago. After the surgery, I continued to have pain and my orthopedist mentioned doing a release on one of my tendons. He told me I might be in a wheel chair for six months, so we decided to push off doing the release. I have been regularly going to a massage therapist and exercising to keep it my “locking up” but in the last year, my hip pain has returned exponentially. My previous orthopedic surgeon no longer is practicing, so I have no idea what I should do to get help without having to go through physical therapy (unsuccessfully) for months and keep dealing with the pain. What should I do? (29 year old female)

                                    Brief Answer:
Do tendon release first.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
Listening to your symptoms I think you should do tendon release. The physical therapy is shown to be not effective so you can stop doing it.
You better do the intervention of tendon release, stay in wheelchair for six months and then continue physical therapy.
Without intervention the physical therapy may do more harm than good.
The intervention is a definitive treatment.
Anyway you should visit an orthopaedic surgeon.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
