Question : I had two beers playing golf1:30-5:30 pm and 2 drinks at dinner 6:00-7:30 pm. Took 2 mgs xanax at 2:30 am. Couldnt sleep. is that ok?

If you are not able to sleep even with 2 mg of Xanax then better to not to repeat the doses because you have taken moderate amount of alcohol in evening. Taking more tablets might results in CNS depression which could prove harmful.

So us the one hour per drink rule is a pretty good guide as to the rate at which the alcohol is metabolized and out of my system. I dont drink often but take xanax every day for anxiety generslly at bed time.

Yes please keep a gap of at least few hours between Xanax and drinks. Taking both together could worsen the sleep quality and can cause serious brain depression.

Take Xanax in anxiety exacerbations on SOS basis only.
