Question : I have 5 days left on my high blood pressure medicine and I need a refill. We moved a couple months ago so I don’t have a new doctor and can’t leave the house anyway.
What can I do to get a refill.

Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Nowadays medical professionals are offering help on phone as much as possible. So find a local doctor near your place on phone who can provide a prescription on internet to a pharmacy near you. For a prescription of metoprolol, transfer of file is not needed . In case it is needed for a special case, you can simply ask your previous doctor to transfer file to the new doctor. It should not be hard. You just need to do a few phone calls. Also people are leaving house to get medicine refills, but it has risks.

If this does not become possible, then second option is to taper your dose of metorpolol. To suggest about this I need to know your dose and your blood pressure readings with and without metoprolol.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
