Brief Answer:
Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You are suffering from cold. It would have been better if you could give detailed information about your symptoms.

Symptoms of cold & allergies are very similar, if you are suffering from symptoms like sore throats, sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes & coughing it may occur due to allergy. The best way to prevent symptoms of allergy is to avoid your exposure to the elements that cause allergies, symptoms often decrease over time.

Taking antihistamine, decongestants, nasal sprays will help to relieve the symptoms of allergy.

Cold symptoms may persist for a week or two while the symptoms of allergy may last till the exposure to the triggering allergen is in the air.

Cold presents with body aches and fevers together with the symptoms of allergy. You are suggested to gargle your throat at least twice daily with a pinch of salt in warm water.

Keep cough lozenges in your mouth to relieve discomfort. Take sips of water & prefer to take semi solid diet like oat meal or porridge. Stay at rest.

Taking steam inhalation once a day will be helpful. Stay well hydrated. You can take analgesic for relieve from headache or body ache.

If your symptoms are severe I recommended you to get throat culture & chest X-ray done to detect any bacterial infection such as pneumonia or strep throat so that you may be given conservative treatment if required.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if you have some more symptoms or questions. Take care.
