Question: I have a mild itchy/burning sensation in my chest below the breastbone, when I breath in. Elevated temperature of 37.5 taken from the ear. Negative result on COVID test. No cough, no phlegm so far. Weakness in hands and feet, sometimes and general fatigue. I have an ongoing post nasal drip and blocked nose and had a sore throat last week that has since cleared up. What do I have?

Brief Answer:
It can be common cold

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think it can be common cold.
Body ache, weakness and fatigue together with low grade fever and itching and burning sensation in chest may be caused by common cold. The post nasal drip and congestion may be symptoms of common cold too.
Take any over the counter medications such Tylenol. Use nasal decongestant spry.
The symptoms usually get better in 5-7 days but may last up to 10.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

I've been struggling with the post nasal drip and congestion for the past six months now. Ironically, these symptoms turned up right after I quit smoking. I am particularly congested in my right nostril. I had an MRI done but nothing was found out of the ordinary besides slightly swollen sinuses. It's strange, I will go to bed with a blocked nose, wake up and its completely clear only to partially block again 20mins later.

Would you call this chronic sinus blockage? Can these symptoms cause my throat and chest symptoms too?

Thank you Dr. Xhufka for your kind attention.

Hmmm...I understand that I may have allergies, but the burning/itching sensation has only happened in the last two weeks. So I am more incline to follow your first suggestion that it is a common cold? What should I do? Just wait it out and it should get better by itself?

Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I think you can use Tylenol , decongestants such pseudoephedrine, oxymetazoline nasal spray, and antihistamines such benadryl or citerizine.
This will help relieve congestion and help healing.
If it still persists you can visit an ENT doctor.
