Question : I have a mild throat pain while swallowing saliva. If i eat anything oily i feel like clearing my throat and every time i cough a very small amount of mucus comes out.
I consulted a doctor and i took a CT scan of paranasal sinuses without IV contrast with the following finding - "Deviation of nasal septum to the left with a bony spur indenting right inferior turbinate"
I have been taking augmentin and doing gargling with BETADINE GARGLE from past 7 days and the pain a reduced a bit
My Doctor mentioned to me saying that mucus is being formed and the nasal deviation is a reason for it
He is asking me to go for a surgery and correct the nasal deviation.
What do you suggest ? Is the bony spur normal or should it be surgically removed ? can nasal deviation be the reason behind a mild throat pain and mucus formation ?

Brief Answer:
As discussed
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up and attachments of reports and prescription.
No nasal symptoms hence you can wait for surgery.
The pain in middle of throat may be due to the following:
Please do a simple check > press on the neck over the Adam's apple that is voice box with two fingers 2 cm away from mid line and see for any tenderness; also slide the fingers up - say by 2 cm to palpate for small bone called hyoid and press on it and see for tenderness. Inflammation of these bone and cartilage can cause central pain as you have mentioned.
Take an anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties like Ibuprofen or any other whichever you have taken in past and suits you for 5 days.
Oral steroids like Deflazacort in tapering dose - needs a prescription of your local Doctor.
I hope this should solve your problem.
Please give feedback once this is done.

When you say no nasal symptoms - Do you mean I don't have to get a surgery done ?
From the scans and reports do you see a need of surgery for nasal deviation ?Can this nasal deviation be the reason behind mucus formation ?
I don't have any tenderness over Adam's apple or above it. I feel the slight pain in the inner part of the throat while swallowing anything, like a sense of blockage. I tried swallowing a small grape which I am unable to. What do you think are the other causes ?

Detailed Answer:
DNS surgery is indicated if there are any symptoms like blockage or causing some signs as seen by the Doctor/ENT Surgeon in the form of nasal changes, sinus problems, post nasal drip causing chronic pharyngeal or ear problems.
You can wait and have proper medical treatment and if your symptoms are gone then there may not be need for surgery.
DNS can cause more mucus formation after any rhinitis attack.
Fine, the problem can be inflammation in the muscles and mucosa.
Take medicines as suggested above and tell me the results for taking medicines for 5 - 7 days.
