Question : I have a nodule in lower left abd which is painful to touch and when sitting. Doctor has done pain blocks twice and I am taking gabapentin. Pain goes away for a while but returns. Doc is now referring me to a surgeon for opinion. I am quite worried that this could be something bad. I have no other symptoms. I am 68.

It has been present since about February although I have had same pain in the past. It has become more painful in the last several months esp. when sitting. I don't know the size but it is located on lower left abd close to a surgical scar. I would guess the size as 1-2 inches? It does not reduce on coughing or straining. No scans. Doctors diagnosis is nerve bundle.

What was surgery done?
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Was the surgical scar for hernia repair?
1-2 inches is a big lump and may not be nerve bundle.

Partial hysterectomy first then second one for full hysterectomy later. Size of area I am not sure of because I cannot feel it but doctor can.

                                    Brief Answer:
Most probably hernia
Detailed Answer:
The most probable cause I can think about is a hernia - an incisional hernia.
Please consult a Surgeon for clinical examination.
Additional confirmation by an Ultrasonography / CT scan can help to get the exact cause and a proper diagnosis gives a chance for proper management.
Please post the feedback once all these things are done.
