Hello!

Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor' service!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that you need to discuss with your GP or internist for a careful physical exam.

Such symptomatology could be due to a musculoskeletal disorder, but may also be a consequence of a pleural layer inflammation. Other causes like a hiatal hernia, gastritis, etc. should be sought as well.

In such a case, imaging studies could be helpful, like:

- chest X-ray study,
- local tissue ultrasound

In addition, a complete blood count, PCR, an ECG, and cardiac ultrasound could be necessary for the differential diagnosis.

According to the specific cause, anti-inflammatory medication (eg. Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, etc) or a gastric antisecretory drug (eg. proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole) would be the right choice for relieving the pain.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above-mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

In case of any further questions, please feel free to ask me again.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
