Question : I have a rash in my groin area which itches and my skin in this area has some discoloration. It is not really painful but when i scratch it there is temporary relief but it stars itching again later. I am in otherwise good health, I may go see the doctor if I can not get any relief from over the counter medicine, though i have not used any yet. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

Perhaps you have a fungal infection of the groin. I suggest you to use a topical antifungal e.g either clotrimazole 1% cream or ketoconazole 2% cream, twice daily. In addition I suggest you to take an oral antihistamine e.g cetirizine 10mg tablet once a day for a few days for symptomatic relief from itching.
