I Have A Sensation That I Have Something On My

Question: I have a sensation that I have something on my tongue on the right side. I don't know exactly where but it is more at the back at my tongue. I looked at and I have discovered that my folliate and lingual tonsil are inflamed and also at the base of my right tonsil I have a lump, or cyst. Recently I have a very mild sore throat.

1. The small swelling on the anterior pillar of the left palatine tonsil is a random island of lymphoid (tonsil-like) tissue which is distributed throughout the oral cavity and throat.

2. Common causes are allergy, infections, acid reflux, nutritional deficiencies and so on.

3. The foliate papillae on the right lateral border of the tongue are also inflamed. This is a type of glossitis. A dental check-up is recommended.

4. Routine treatment will settle this down.

Thanks for the reply and glad to hear the answer. My papillae are inflamed like that for at least 6_8 weeks and I have been to dentist, she did clean my teeth and shaved the ones which were a bit sharp but no improvement. I still have this sensation that something on my tongue sometimes even like something is rubbing. I will attach another picture one with my tooth, so maybe my tooth is rubbing against my tongue.

1. As suggested above, the dental issues seem to be causing trauma to the tongue, causing glossitis (inflammation of the tongue).

2. You should get a dental implant or bridge to reduce the tongue inflammation.

3. A local application with a 5% amlexanox oral ointment will help.
