Brief Answer:
Further diagnostics

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome. Well, first it may not be swollen lymph node at all so I suggest doing an ultrasound since it may be lipoma or atheroma. In these cases, it can be surgically removed under local anesthesia. If there are some doubts then needle citopunction under ultrasound control may be done to rule out more serious issues. But it looks to me like lipoma or lymph node which may have enlarged as a result of any infection in your body. Wish you good health. Regards

my doctor already did a neck ultrasound and chest xray 3 months ago. also he did the following blood tests 3 months ago.

TSH
CRP
ESR
FULL BLOOD COUNT
FERRITIN
Hba1c
U&E
LIVER PROFILE

but he said everything looks normal so nothing to worry. he said if there's any abnormal such as cancer he can see it in this blood test or scan. but he said I'm anemic. my concern is I can feel a swollen lymph node just underneath my jaw. it's there for almost 4 months now. it's little painful if I press but otherwise it's not causing get any issue. but I'm concerned why it's there for over 4 months and I can notice a slight swelling in that side of neck and shoulder or color bone area. since its there fir 4 months without any improvement I'm little concerned whether it's something serious. Sometimes I feel the pain goes around my neck to back side.

Brief Answer:
Hi

Detailed Answer:
Well, sometimes lymph node may swell as a reaction on some infection, and it may have happened even years ago. It may also stay enlarged for long period, and if you don't have some symptoms or there is no significant increase is size then I don't think that any treatment is required. Other, it would be good to do MRI scan and if there is growth or pressure on surrounding structures then surgery may be considered. Wish you good health. Regards

Thank you doctor. Just one last question before I leave to clarify, I had a skin allergy or reaction last year on my neck. I don't know what causes it but it was like excema and it was itchy and I went to the doctor and he said it looks like some kind of infection or excema. I already have excema. So he gave me a cream to apply on my neck. Now it's healed. But I just wanted to check would that cause the swelling and this swollen lymph node this year. Is that possible? Also is that common?

Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Yes, it is possible that lymph node react on egcema so this should not XXXXXXX you. It is not uncommon and I don't think you should be worried. Just wait and see if new symptoms will develop. But if blood count is fine then there is no fear of something serious. Wish you good health. Regards

Sorry to bother you again. Just wanted to clarify one last thing before I leave. In my latest blood test (3 months ago) my doctor said i'my anemic and my dad dimer level is higher than normal event hough it has gone down from my earlier blood test which was taken 6 months ago. Is that something to be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
follow-up consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

D-dimers may indicate some disorders such as vein thrombosis bit it normalized then there is no need for further tests.

Anaemia is common and may have many causes but usually, it is self-limiting so recheck red blood count in few weeks and see will it improve. If not, then it would be good to do a colonoscopy to rule out some occult bleeding in the bowel.
