Question : I have a swollen lymph node under my jaw for a bit. I recently was then diagnosed with two infected teeth. Put on amoxicillin and had root canal. A week later the lymph node is still swollen. I went to a Dr.and he checked the swollen lymoh node. He said it was round and attributed it to the infections I had on that side of my mouth. Does that seem appropriate at this time?
Brief Answer:
yes, it is appropriate, can remain up to 4 weeks
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Lymph nodes are responsible for fighting infection in a particular area.
Lymph nodes in the neck are responsible for infections in the head and neck.
They can remain swollen up to 4 weeks after an acute infection.
If they remain beyond this time or enlarge, then your doctor may do a complete blood count to look at the white cell count. This is normal in the majority however but it is checked as a precaution.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
