Question : I have a weird looking discoloration on my penis head. It's purple and sometimes scaly in appearance. Dry its slightly off but not as distinguishable. When i come out of the shower its almost Burgundy in color. I put on gloves and grab the skin and spread it apart to get a good look at it. I dont see bumps. Its more like the glands have changed color per say. I have tried using Neem Oil, Lotrim AF, Terrasil Balanitis relief and Miconazole Nitrate 2% (all bought online). I had some extra valtrex given to me by my doctor for when I got a really bad cold to get rid of cold sore on my lip. I took 1 pill once a day for 2 weeks straight as well...None of it is working. The Nitrate seemed to make it less discolored but it always worse after showering in appearnce. A couple of time I saw crusty appearance. Its been going on for 1.5 months now

Brief Answer:
Eczema or psoriasis, topical steroid & antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your complaints and reviewed the attached photographs
It seems to be either eczematous in nature or psoriasis.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like mometasone cream on the affected areas twice daily for 2 weeks.
If it is associated with itching take antihistaminic like tablet cetrizine 10 mg once daily.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to answer any further questions.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Will it go away by itself? Or do I need the medication? Are there any other options for medication or is that only kind?

Brief Answer:
It won’t go away on its own, cortisone cream & antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
It won’t go away on its own. You need to take medication.
You can also apply cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily for 2 weeks.
For irritation take antihistaminic like tablet chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg once daily at bedtime.
They should be available as over the counter medicines.
