Question : I have afib - rheumatic fever as a child - regurgitating valve resultant. Have been on warfarin for a couple of months - no side effects - today asked about different way to go as with warfarin a diet of anything dark green counteracts with it. Eliquis alternative prescribed today as I mentioned it first at the direction of sister whose doctor friend is on Eliquis. My Dr told me to stop warfarin tonight and not take anymore - blood work on Monday and then blood level is where it's supposed to be, start Eliquis. I'm thinking why upset the applecart? Greens important but I feel fine. I just don't know what to do. Thanks for your help, XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello There
After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that Eliquis is new drug introduced with equal efficacy like warfarin for RHD, atrial fibrillation and many other other heart condition. It doesn’t require any diet modification and PT/INR monitoring.
If you have started with eliquis then keep it continue and follow as your treating cardiologist advices. You can consume green veggies also to fulfill nutritional requirements.
Hopefully this information will guide you properly.
Kind Regards
