I Have An Abscessed Tooth, And I Am In Between

Posted on Mon, 22 Feb 2021
Question: I have an abscessed tooth, and I am in between dentists. I am 75 with COPD and Emphysema. As such, I am trying to avoid going out until I get the COVID-19 Vaccine. COVID-19 is a death sentence for me. Anyway, this tooth acted up last October. I went to an Endodontist, and he prescribed 20 pills of AMOX-CLAV 875mgTablets every 12 hours or twice daily. I'm in Pasco County, Florida, and it appears that March or April may be the earliest I can get the Vaccine. So I need some help.

Brief Answer:
The cause has to be treated

Detailed Answer:
Hiii first of all thank you for approaching us with your query.

I read through your query. I must say that the abscess can be removed only by treating its root cause. It will be the tooth decay. Taking medicines can only give you relief for short time. Since you are not able to go out. You can try some home remedies besides taking medicine(it will be also giving relief for short time). Try doing warm salt water gargle concentraing to that area of the abscessed tooth. Do it as many times as possible daily. Apply heat pack from outside(cheek) in that area. Do this also as many times as possible. Avoid having sweets and too hot and too cold food from that area. Also avoid having hard food stuffs with that area. Take lot of warm water. Keep hydrated. Once you take vaccine please go and get it treated. Hope you understood what I meant.

Thankyou and have a healthy day. Dr Rohit
