Question : I have an itchy rash on the upper right hand side of my back, near my right shoulder. With this, my right lymph node is palpable. The lymph node is slightly smaller than a bb and seems to move around. I believe it%E2%80%99s either a cervical lymph node, or a supraclavicular lymph node. I had this exact condition a few months ago in August. My doctor did blood yests, chest x-ray and ultra sound of the lymph node. Everything came back normal. She thought it was a heat rash from the sun and the lymph node was responding to the rash. I stayed covered and used a cream. After about a month, it went away. Now it%E2%80%99s back, but i haven%E2%80%99tbeen in the sun and live in a cold climate. What do you think is going on. If it were just a rash, I wouldn%E2%80%99t be scared, but the location of the swollen lymph node scares me because I read those lymph nodes only react to cancers. Please help.

It appears my question was cut off. I went on to say that my Doc thought it was a sun reaction, but I haven%E2%80%99t been in the sun and live in a cold climate. Like i said, i did have this once before and it resolved, but now it%E2%80%99s back and i%E2%80%99m concerned. The lymph node location bothers me. please help.

                                    Brief Answer:
The symptoms seem to be related to an infection, follow the advice below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I already reviewed the attached reports.
The rash and swollen lymph nodes are usually related to an infection.
Based on the photo the symptoms seem to be related to a minor infection.
I suggest to clean the area with antibacterial soap and water.
I also suggest to apply an antibiotic cream such as Neosporin cream twice a day.
I recommend using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the swollen lymph nodes.
The symptoms will probably relieve on its own gradually, so you should not be worried.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards!
