Question : I am a 74-year old female and for some time have badly disintegrating fingernails. No matter how short I cut them, use topicals (upon the advice of my dermatologist), take biotin and collagen (upon the advice of my primary care physician), there is no improvement at all. My mother had an identical problem, so I wonder if this is hereditary. Furthermore, I am also loosing a lot of hair.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Disintegrating nails could be due to fungal infection. I request you to kindly upload a few images of the affected nails so that I am able to have a look whether it is due fungal infection or not.
Hope to assist you further with your query. Take care.
Thanks.
