Question : I have been experiencing a very sharp pain in my right side near my hip bone off and on for a few days. The area is not tender and the pain is like very severe gas pains. It is very acute right now.

Your abdominal pain could be due to two significant causes - appendicitis or ovarian pathology, although gastrointestinal infections or constipation could also be contributory. An abdominal ultrasound needs to be done and you need to visit a doctor at the earliest. Please do not ignore. Visit the ER without delay.
