I Have Been Getting Random Pain On The Back Of

Question: I have been getting random pain on the back of my neck, on the right side. The pain feels like a very tight muscle ache, but I am not sure if it is. When feeling the area with my fingers, it feels tighter than the rest, almost like a hard bump under the skin, like a lipoma or cyst.

I recently had an MRI done for my neck and it showed several bulged discs at around c5 and c6.

I am scared it might be some sort of abnormal growth that is dangerous. When I shrug and raise my shoulders, I notice that my right shoulder doesn%E2%80%99t life up as much as the left side.

Brief Answer:
Not related to protruding discs on cervical spine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think that the pain you are having on the back of your neck, muscle tightness may be related to the nerve compression by the protruding discs on the cervical spine.
I don't think this pain can be related to the cyst or lipoma you are having.
Cyst or lipoma are painless and doesn't cause pain and numbness.
Another possibility is that it can be an enlarged lymph node .
Please do a total blood count with formula and an ultrasound of neck to check the cyst or lipoma you are having.
I don't think it can be dangerous.

Hope I have answered the question.
