Question : I have been having pain on the side of my butt for the past few days. It is tender, and it hurts a ton when I walk/sleep/sit, but there is no swelling/inflammation and painkillers do not work. What could it be?

Brief Answer:
Sciatica nerve pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you may be suffering from sciatica or sciatic nerve pain. It occurs when a herniated disk, bone spur on the spine or narrowing of the spine (spinal stenosis) compresses part of the nerve causing inflammation, irritation, pain and numbness in leg affected.
You may need to do a x-ray of spine to check it's conditions.
Since advil is not working you can try naproxen.
Also use cold compresses over it for two days.
After two days use hot compresses .
Stretching exercises may help relieve the pain.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
