Question : I have been recently rushed to hospital with a gynec problem. There was severe pain(almost like labor pain) in the right side of abdomen accompanied by vomitings. After about 6 hours and with 4 pain relief medicines the pain subsided but left me very weak for about 4 days after that.
Doctors did a USG Abdomen and Pelvic scan and identified a Cyst in Right Ovary. of size 6.5 x 4.5 cms.(size of a small orange). And she mentioned the reason for the sudden severe pain might be cyst torsion
Doctor also suggested some close monitoring and scans for the next few months and go for a surgery if needed after 6 months.
I am seeking second opinion on this matter as I have lined up functions at home and its very important i take part in them actively (without pain etc.)

                                    Brief Answer:
Doppler ultrasound for torsion ovary
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
1) Ovarian cyst causing torsion of ovary could be a reason for acute pain.
2) Torsion of ovary can be identified by doppler ultrasound scan and can be ruled out.
3) I suggest request your doctor to get doppler scan to rule out torsion ovary.
4) If pain has reduced now, it may not be torsion of ovary. There is no need of further testing if pain is reduced now.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
Regards
