Brief Answer:
There are cases when you can wait- details below

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service,

I carefully read your query and understand your concern.

Blood in semen is very alarming to patients but most of the cases are benign and around one third are idiopathic (no known cause).
Excessive masturbation and sex or even sexual abstinence for a long time may cause blood with semen.

I would say that if you have no pain or any other complaints and the amount of blood is not striking (gross bleeding) you may choose to wait a while and see if it settles. You may need to avoid excessive intercourse or masturbation.

If you notice that the blood in semen continues in a month or if you have any pain or increased secretions or any other complaint you will need to see your doctor. In this case, a check is needed to rule out sexually transmitted diseases (if you are sexually active) or other conditions of the testicles (an ultrasound may be needed in this case).

I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
