Question: Hello Dr,

Good evening,

I have concern regarding oximeter.
I checked oxygen level to my father

Age - 61 year.
Past history - BP

1. Resting time - Initially oximeter reading starts with 91, 93 then 94 and with in a 45 seconds. readings will be ranging from 94-95%.

Is these readings are normal ?

my father doesn't have any symptoms like caugh, fever, breathing.

Please advice. How long we need to keep the finger in the Oximeter to get exact reading.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Yes, this is normal. No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I can understand your concern.
Yes, this reading is normal.
Usually we take reading after putting 20-25 seconds.
So consider that reading only which comes after 20-25 seconds.
Above 93 is considered as normal.
Since he is not having any symptoms, no need to worry for this.
So keep for 20-25 seconds and take reading.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your father. Thanks.
