Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain can occur in some persons with diabetes, it can be as a result of neuropathy which refers to abnormal function of the nerves

Neuropathy is one of the complications of diabetes.

There are other causes of pain however, that can be considered.

Some other causes of painful muscles (medically callled myalgia) are: (1) rheumatoid arthritis

(2)lupus

(3)sarcoidosis- inflammatory disease where certain nodules/massess (not cancerous) can affect different areas of the body including the muscles

(4)polymyositis- inflammation of the muscles or blood vessels going to the muscles

(5)due to alcohol use

(6)due to some types of infection

(7)side effect of medication eg statins for high cholesterol

(8)hormonal issues such as (a)thyroid disease,
(b)cushings disease- increased steroids made in the body,
(c)hyperparathyroidism (high levels of a hormone called to parathyroid hormone which can affect the calcium levels in the body)

(9)fibromyalgia

If the pain continues or it is severe, it would best to be assessed by your doctor.
This should include complete examination and blood tests such as complete blood count and ESR (checks for inflammation in the body)
Hormone levels can also be done as well

Your doctor can refer you to a rheumatologist if he or she is not sure of the cause.
A rheumatologist deals with pain and issues involving the muscles and joints

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
