Brief Answer:
Possible causes explained, it is safer to see a doctor and have some tests

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

There are several possible causes of dark semen (generally due to presence of blood); it may be due to trauma, medications, growths in the prostate or urinary canal (cyst, polyps or tumors) and infection (of the testicles, prostate or urine) or sexually transmitted infections (less likely in your age).

In your case because you don't have pain it is very likely it is not due to a prostate infection or infection of the testicles. Trauma that would be sufficient to cause bleeding would be supposed to cause pain as well so trauma seems less likely as well. If you have had a surgery in the area recently would be an important factor to consider. If you are not using any medications then it is unlikely for the blood in the semen to be due to possible medication's side effect.

Because of your age it is important that you see a doctor and have some tests to try to locate the origin of bleeding and the possible cause. This is the case especially if you have this bloody semen for longer then a week.

The doctor will examine you and may have to do a urinalysis, semen examination, CBC, maybe will have to do a prostate examination and PSA. In some cases may need to do cystoscopy (examination of the bladder with a tube with a camera on top) and in some cases might ask for CT or MRI depending on the results of the other tests mentioned.

To conclude I would say:
- because of your age it is important to have a visit with your doctor especially if the blood in semen is longer then a week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
