It just came on suddenly with no apparent impact to the elbow
Several conditions are possible, a bit more information needed to assist you better
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service,
I read your query and here is my advice:
Elbow pain may be caused by a variety of problems such as joint problems (arthritis), tendonitis or even bone structure problems. For instance, pain in the area of the funny bone, the inside of the elbow, is often due to tendonitis in that area and is very common in golfers, but there are other conditions as well that may cause similar pain.
Having some more information on the pain will be helpful to better categorize the cause of it.
I would request you to let me know of the following:
- for how long have you had the pain?
- is there any swelling or redness in the area?
- do you have pain on other joints?
- how strong is the pain (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the max)
- does the pain spread somewhere else (forearm, arm, wrist, hand)?
- does Advil help?
- do you have pain at night as well?
- is there something that makes it better or worse?
Hope to hear from you soon with the above-requested information.
Kind regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
General and Family Physician
