Question : For the past few years on and off I have experienced a strange empty/hollow feeling in my stomach even after eating. When I first began feeling this sensation I had an upper endoscopy which showed GERD. It also seems as though this sensation returns following times of increased stress. What could be the cause?

                                    Brief Answer:
Inflammation of gastroesophageal wall.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Stress and anxiety causes vagal stimulation which worsens up the symptoms of GERD.
The strange feeling is because of inflammation on gastro esophageal tract.
Suggestion-
Tab Nexium 40 mg two time a day 9a.m -9p.m
Tab Domperidon (need prescription) 30 mg once daily for 5 days and follow up after that.
Smoking and alcohol should be stopped if present.
Light home cooked food should be taken.
Thank you!

Thanks for the response. I am currently taking 10 mg of omezeraporole once a day should I take it both at night as well as in the morning. Also is it normal foe such irritation to come and go. I usually experience episodes one or two time per year which lasts roughly about two weeks. Is this all caused by acid?

                                    Brief Answer:
Follow up.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Yes sliding hiatal hernia is one of the most common cause of gastritis.
Omeprazole 10 mg is a suboptimal dose and therefore is not helping much.
If you have Omeprazole take 20 mg in morning and 20 in evening ...During flares doses could be increased to 40-20mg or 40-40mg.
Thank you!
