Question : I have had IBS confirmed for 30+ years. I feel like I’m having a flare up with some intermittent heartburn. I’m also getting some intermittent I believe IBS pains just below ribs and tucked just under. I also get come and go pain below the breast same side as ribs and some shoulder ache also same side. Do you think all of my pains are associated with IBS, heartburn and gas??

Hi and thank you for asking!

I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1. Your symptoms like heartburn, gas and pain below ribs mostly are related with
- GERD (acid reflux)
- gatritis
2. high leve of acid production may case abdominal discomfort and gas.
Tp my opinion you should start treatment with PPI like Prilosec OTC and antacid like Tums.
Please dicuss with your gastroenterologist about upper endoscopy. You have to do it too.
