Question : I have had diareah since Monday evening and it is Sunday morning now. Can this be a simple virus? How long can they last for?
Or could this be from drinking too much coffee?
I do not have any additional symptoms. i had some pain (temporary) last night with urgency that was relieved about I used the bathroom. There is no blood in the stool.
I am also not dehydrated. It%E2%80%99s not constant and I am eating and drinking normally.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Viral Gastroenteritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query.
Have seen your details.
Your symptoms refer mostly to an acute gastroenteritis;Very likely viral (infection of bowels). - For the time being, I'd suggest to drink more water, take tasectan, probiotics and oral rehydration salts (O.R.S) for quick recovery.
If your diarrhea and pain do not have any improvement within a couple of days, then, should go for some more investigations to identify the real culprit. I'd suggest, then, to do an abdominal ultrasound, fecal examination for ova/parasites, feces occult blood, leucocytes in feces, and complete blood profile.
Hope it answered to your question!
