Question : I have had intermittent blurry vision in my left eye since Friday. I am wondering what the cause could be? The first time it happened was Friday night while I was at work and lasted about an hour.

Brief Answer:
Probably a refractive error, kindly more details are needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are many medical conditions that can cause blurried vision in one eye.

In my opinion, it is probably a refractive error, nearsightedness or farsightedness.

It can be corrected with proper eyeglasses.

I would like to have more information about your symptoms.

Do you use glasses?

Do you have a headache while you have blurred vision?

Do you have other symptoms such as dry or red eyes?

Awaiting for your response to help you better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.

I do not have any problems with my vision nor do I wear glasses. I had an eye doctor appointment less than a year ago.

I have not had headaches associated with the blurred vision.

When it happened Friday it really affected my peripheral vision in my left eye and my balance felt off.

Brief Answer:
Follow up query expained below in detail.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,

I recommend to do an eye exam to exclude the possibility of a refractive error.

If this diagnosis is excluded and the symptom is not repeated another possible cause can be orbicular migraine.

Orbicular migraine sometimes is by blurring of the peripheral vision without headache.

In this case, no treatment is required.

I recommend to do the eye exam for further evaluation.

Hope my answer was helpful.

Take care dear,

Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi
