Question : I have had sinus congestion 4 weeks now. I took 10 days of Bactrim and I have Flonase spray. Zyrtec does not help. I have a low grade fever on and off and I am coughing up hard chunks of green mucous. And blowing my nose a lot. Sometimes it is runny then gets stuffed up. It is my right nostril. Yesterday and day before I had sinus pressure so bad it made my front teeth hurt my jaw. My head my right nostril and my eye. My face under my eye and my right nostril at the top by my eye was very puffy. Inside of my right eye and underneath was turning black like I had been punched. I put heat on my face for 4 hrs yesterday. It gave me relief from the pain. I wanted to go to the E at it hurt so badly. So I finally fell asleep for 2 hrs and upon awakening. I had a throbbing in my nostril and both ears. And all of a sudden this big Green spongy rubbery matter came out of my nose. It scared me. I thought it was some brain or a tumor. I have a sore throat from nasal drip and a foul taste in my mouth. Can u address this for me please ? Thank You Kindly XXXXXXX

It is also involving the tissue around your eyes. so the infection is quite severe in your case. The green rubbery thing is the infected mucus from the nose. You should immediately consult an Entire surgeon. You can do a CT scan of para nasal sinuses. Start an antibiotic augmentin. You need to start a nasal fluticasone spray., anti allergic tablet levocetrizine and a mucolytic tablet. Take steam inhalation after spray. Do betadine gargle as the post nasal drip will also cause inflammation of the posterior pharyngeal wall. You should immediately consult an Ent surgeon as to find out whether there is any fungal infection of the sinuses present or not. Please review if you have any queries.
