Question : I have had this bump on the back of my ear for about a week and it started to hurt, so tonight I was pushing on it and it popped and it seems I got all the pus out. It still feels like there is a bump there though and when I press on it nothing is coming out. Do you know if this will go away? is this a pimple or boil? my ears get really oily. I have never had a bump like this behind my ear before. I put some neosporin on there and didnt put a bandage is that okay? does this seem like a pimple or a boil? I attached a photo of it before and after I popped it.

                                    Brief Answer:
Possible ateroma
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to Ask a doctor.
I didnt see photo, maybe you should attach it again. But considering your explanation this is suggestive of ateroma, this is actually gland under skin which is clogged and then grows or become inflamed. If this emptied then it may pass on its own. But sometimes, surgical incision and drainage is required. You can apply mild steroid ointment or neosporin, but if it become larger or there is an increasing pain, you should see ENT or surgeon. Wish you good health. Regards
