Question : I have has a sore throat on and off for about three weeks. I went to and ENT and he precribed an anti- biotic for a bacterial infection in my throat. At times I was running a low grade fever. I have taken tyelnol for the fever. Sometimes after taking the tyelnol I would sweet at night. I conatcted the ENT again and he did not want to put me on more anti bionics. Lots of warm fluids and garrling with warm water was prescribed. I am scheduled to eave on a vacation today but worreid that I am stiil symptomatic and concerned if I should travel. Any advice would be welcomed.

Hii. It seems that you are having acute pharyngitis or tonsillitis. It's better you take full course of antibiotic for 10 days. If you have taken the full course and the pain is decreased upto 70-80 percent then visit your entire surgeon once. If he is prescribing you betadine gargle, hot saline gargle, anti allergic tablet levocetrizine then please continue that. These will heal you up and decrease your pain. No need for any antibiotic more. If possible you can send a throat swab for culture and sensitivity. Yoh can travel but always do the gargle and take orally more.
