Question : I have intermittent ringing in my right ear and really can't hear much in that ear. This started the evening of (7/27). The next day I got really sick and threw up and felt terrible and didn't go to work for the first time since sometime in 2002!!! I was back to work on 07/30 feeling tired, but a lot better. I thought this ear would get better on its own. I have NO history of ear issues or ear infections. What could this be? Does it get better on its own? If not, what type of doctor do I go see for it?
Brief Answer:
need to consult an ENT specialist
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The symptoms you have described may be due to some abnormalities in your inner ear like vertigo which irritates the balancing mechanism lodged in your ear and can cause the symptoms. Impacted wax and condition like labyrinthitis can also cause these symptoms.
As of now, you can take drugs like Betahistine for symptomatic relief (these are prescription drugs and you may need it from your local physician).
Please consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated. If there is impacted wax it has to be removed.
Wishing you good health.
