Question : I have just received my LAbCorp results and the following were found:
WBC Esterase 1 plus Abnormal, Monocytes (Absolute) 1.0 High and MCV 98 high. At the time of the blood draw, I had two wounds that were still infected (treated by wound doctor and now healed) Did that affect the above? I am to have surgery may 11th for a herniated disc and am wondering if the above tests will prevent this surgery from taking place.

Brief Answer:
You can safely proceed with surgery.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
In your case MCV is slightly elevated or we can say it is in the borderline. It is a sign of macrocyric anemia and MCV value keep on increasing with age. So for your age it is not that much significant.
The leukocyte esterase 1+ indicated inflammation or infection somewhere in the urinary tract.
It has got no relation with the active wound at the time of sample collection.
You can safely proceed with the surgery as scheduled without any concerns.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
