Question: I have not had a period in 7 years - had early menopause. Ame now 48. All of a sudden I'm having tender breasts and all the signs of the possible onset of a period. I have just come out of hospital with kidney infection where I had several IV antibiotics *just in case this is relevant) What do you think is happening?

Brief Answer:
Needs evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

It is very unlikely for one to have periods after 7 years of amenorrhea. The breast tenderness could be due to other cause which needs to be evaluated after a detailed clinical examination.

Meanwhile do examine your breast by yourself. Use the palm of your hand to examine both of your breasts.if you find any sort of tendrness or lump in the breast it must be followed with a gynecologist consultation with or without mammography.

Do follow steps in below link to examine the breast by yourself.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.

regards,
