the pains come and go. no that's it and no I'm not on it. I'm not using medicine

Well, in the current scenario, the possible causes are ovulation pain, an impending period, an early pregnancy if you are sexually active without any contraception, pain from a cyst of the ovary, infection in the pelvis etc.
Clarification can be had through a proper clinical exam and a sonogram of the pelvis, preferably in the trans-vaginal route. Further management can be planned accordingly.
Cramping can be controlled by using anti-spasmodic medication. Please get proper help from your health care provider.
