Question : I have recently noticed the area above my collar bones getting "fat" . Rubbery like. More on the left , but not a drastic difference. Not painful and no defining lumps. I am female 53yrs old, .5'2'' and 117lbs. In menopause. I recently have had ear infections back to back. Treating the 2nd one now with in the ear antibiotics. I am on no other medications. Thoughts ?

Hello and welcome to "Ask A Doctor"
The presence of a swelling over the collar bones can be due to either fat deposition over the clavicle bones or due to lymphadenopathy. The exact diagnosis can only be made after proper physical examination to look for the size, consistency and appearance of the swelling.
I would suggest you to consult with your family physician for a proper physical examination to rule out generalised lymphadenopathy. You may be also required to do a few blood tests.
Also persistent ear infection can also cause the lymph nodes in your neck to be inflamed if it is on the same side.
I hope this helps,
