I Have Sores On The Back Of My Throat. First

Question: Brief Answer:
A short course of antibiotics may be started empirically.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Not all sore throat are strep.
Sore throat can be caused by non strep( streptococcus) bacteria, virus, or even fungal (yeast) infection.
As a first line management you can take over the counter available analgesics like paracetamol for symptomatic relief. Do warm saline gargles also,
Consult physician for a short course of antibiotics empirically preferably amoxclav or amoxicillin.
Generally the symptoms will settle in five to seven days.
If symptoms persist even after a week or you develop high grade fever, better to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated. In that case you might require a throat swab to make a diagnosis.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks
