Question : I have tenderness to touch when pressing on the area directly below my sternum... And if I hold my breath in, the right side upper area under rib cage feels slightly tender also... Could it be xyphoid effect tenderness? Or, gallbladder/liver issues? Or, potentially a mass/cancer? No real other symptoms... But, I'm a pretty heavy drinker.

As per your history, there can be several causes for that which should get evaluated.

Kindly follow up with a bit more information,
Do you have have fever, yellowish skin/eyes/urine, nausea /vomiting, heartburn or history of injury/trauma?

For further assessment I would suggest you to consult with gastroenterologist for detailed clinical examination.

He may procure complete hemogram, liver function test, pancreatic enzymes, ultrasound abdomen/computed tomography, upper GI endoscopy as per evaluation to rule out any other possibilities for gastritis /stomach ulcer /liver disease.

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. Till then you can take syp. Mucaine gel. Avoid hot and spicy foods. Reduce and stop alcohol as per physician consultation.
