Question: I have three stints that was put in 2008,i was having a bad case indigestion which I had in 2008 .So I had heart XXXXXXX last Tuesday they found all the stints were flowing good but they found a capillary artery in front of the heart 100% blocked but was to small to put a stint in.They gave me a drug ranexa
for my angina it hasn't help much what are my options and is another drug that would work better

Firstly, Ranexa is usually given in 500 mg twice daily dosing, so initially, it may be increased to 1000 mg twice a day for better relief. Also, commonly used are heart rate lowering agent beta blockers like Metoprolol or ivabradine, I guess you must be on either of these.

Another option is nitroglycerin 2.6/6.4 mg depending upon need, nicorandil 5/10 mg,
trimetazidine 35 mg twice a day. These are added one after the another till the adequate response is obtained. Either of them may be started with.

So if artery size is small then they are maintained on medicines only, stent or bypass is not done as the benefit is less than risk.

So, overall these are the options available in medicines and you may discuss with your local doctor regarding initiating these.
