Question: I have two issues one is my vocal cords area has a feeling of a lump which has worsened over the last month. It gets better one day but not gone then is back the next day. My voice is not much altered. But aches mildly at times. It has now become accompanied by a slight pain in my neck muscle near the collarbone. I can ask the other question later. Slight pain to right ear but vague 3 time a week for a couple hours. I'm on antibiotics but still have slight lymph nodes swell. I have 3 weeks until insurance is active so I need to wait however my symptoms increase by the week.

A worsening, painful sensation of a knot or mass down in your throat could be very serious and needs to evaluated as soon as possible. Please do not wait!

The most experienced physician to see you is an ENT doctor. He/she will be able to put a scope down into your throat and look at your vocal cords. X-ray and endoscope are the best ways for this examination.

Pain in the neck and near the ear might be due to inflamed lymph nodes in the neck.
