Question : I haven’t taken my methotrexate since February but did take it last Sunday. I now have a uti. Can I take cipro and just skip tomorrow’s methotrexate dose?

I take methotrexate for auto immune. I’m prescribed 2.5 tabs, 5 tabs weekly but I haven’t taken it in a couple of months until last weekend. I have a prescription for ciprofloxacin 500mg 1 tab every 12 hrs for 7 days. Can I take it and stop the methotrexate until I finish the cipro?

I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you can continue to take methotrexate and start ciprofloxacine too.
You are using low dosages of methotrexate so it isn't contraindicated to take ciprofloxacine while on it.

Taking them both may increase the methotrexate levels in blood so you can take the lowest dosage of methotrexate, 2.5 mg in order not to have much elevated levels in blood.
