Question : I just got a full panel testing and the results for HSV 1 IgG were 0.22 and HSV 2 IgG were 1.94. I never had any symptoms before the last time I had sexual contact was 8 months ago. What is the best test to use for HSV 2 ?

It may be that you had HSV 2 in the past and cleared it.

It is not uncommon for the symptoms of HSV 2 to go unnoticed. Some people have no symptoms at all.

According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control): "The most commonly used test, HerpeSelect HSV-2 Elisa might be falsely positive at low index values (1.1–3.5). Such low values should be confirmed with another test such as Biokit or the Western Blot."
