I Just Got An Ultrasound On My Thyroid Because My

No need to be concerned.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch,
Thanks for using 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I would not be too concerned about this. Thyroid nodules are fairly common and the vast majority of them are benign and nothing needs to be done. The ultrasound can determine, based on the size and appearance of the nodules, whether a small piece of them needs to be taken out (called a fine needle aspiration, or FNA) and looked at under the microscope. Again, most of these turn out to be benign.
In rare cases, it may show a type of thyroid cancer, which again, is usually easily treated, as most thyroid cancers are not as aggressive as other cancers.
So to summarize, I wouldn't be concerned at all about this, and try not to think about it too much as you wait to talk with your doctor about what the ultrasound showed.
I hope that helps...
Please let me know if you have any questions, I would be glad to discuss it with you further.

It is common
Detailed Answer:
Thyroid nodules are very common, about 5-10% of women have thyroid nodules (including multiple nodules), but most are not symptomatic and patients don't even know they have them. I agree that "not always cancerous" is not very encouraging. To be more exact, studies have shown that about 5-10% of nodules turn out to be malignant. Again, depending on the size of the nodules, this would probably be catching them early, so it would normally be easily treated with surgery if it was in fact cancer.
Of course, it is normal to be concerned, but I would try not to worry too much. Hopefully you will get the results in the next few days and will know what the next steps will be then.

Likely not from your thyroid nodules
Detailed Answer:
This pain is not likely to be from your thyroid nodules, since nodules do not usually have any symptoms. I would suspect a muscle strain is most likely.
