                                            Question : I just got an ultrasound on my thyroid because my dr felt mild swelling. The woman said she found nodules but that I shouldn’t ask for my results to be rushed. How concerned should I be?

                                    Brief Answer:
About thyroid nodules;
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
Thyroid nodules are a very common finding in the general population.
One in 2 persons has them.
To say rather you need to be concerned or not, the ultrasound characteristics are very important.
In only 4% of the cases, they result malignant.
So I would suggest not to get worried because is a common pathology.
Your physician will suggest whether you need a biopsy or not.
Let me know if I can assist you further...
Best wishes,

                                    So the sudden appearance or detection of nodules is not reason for concern?
