Question: I just had Lasik a couple of weeks ago and my vision has been perfect. But as of a week now, my right eye has a lot of pressure behind it (feels like it's loose/turning in my head) and I'm getting headaches as a result. It also seems to increase when I smoke marijuana (which I have done on a daily/normal basis until this point). I'm only having this pain/issue in my right eye - What is the next step? Could this be a neurological issue? I've been doing medicated/artificial tears prescribed by my Lasik doctor 4 times a day with 10 minutes a part and still feeling the same way.

Hi! Welcome to Ask a doctor forum. Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, though post LASIK surgery, corneal healing and anatomical changes done during surgery may initially give a foreign body sensation or due to dryness may cause irritation and on movement occular muscles can get strained and you may feel slight heaviness.

To get over this feeling, needs few weeks time as well as artificial teArs help to keep cornea moist and soothen the strain as well. However a repeat ophthalmologist review for any changes in visual acuity should be done as well any changes in intraocular pressure may needs to be ruled out.

Also neurological examination to rule out any central cause may needs to na done and may need brain imaging of persists, though smoking marijuana may be stopped gradually as it can cause cognitive as well as neurological impairments and may cause these symptoms. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards
