Because under the interpretation the doctor signed it. I was having the halter because I was having skipped heart rates and I want to find out how many the doctor put down on my interpretation that I had where PVCs and occasional PACs. I had a percentage of a total of 4.2% ecological beats. With this be considered normal? I’ve heard that you can have up to 20% pick up the beach. It was a 48 hour monitor.

Welcome on - Ask a Doctor - service!

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that a percentage of as low as 4% - 5% of extrasystoles is not an issue of concern. Even a bit higher values could not pose any dangerous condition in the absence of a structural heart disease.

The most important issue is to find a potential cause of those premature contractions. Besides a cardiac ultrasound and additional lab tests (complete blood count, thyroid hormones levels, blood electrolytes level, pulmonary function tests, etc.), it may be necessary to perform a cardiac magnetic resonance imaging test for investigating more exactly a potential arrhythmogenic focus.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

I had an electrocardiograph done back in sept. And a blood test done prior to the halter. They did find a st depression on the monitor for 1:32. But it was not listed in the doctors interpretation.

Hello again!

You shouldn't worry about that transient ST depression on the monitor as it it not reliable due to several motion artifacts.

But, to be more sure about a silent cardiac ischemia, a stress cardiac magnetic resonance imagine test would be an excellent investigating tool.

Wishing you good health!
