Question : I just picked up my carbamazepine and it is not extended release like I have always taken. Will it be ok to take until I contact my doctor in two days to find out why the change?

Brief Answer:
The active content is same in both pills.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Both extended release and normal carbamazepine contain same active component and you can safely interchange both the pills.
Extended-release (ER) preparations offer a means to decrease dosing frequency compared to normal one.
You can take normal carbamazepine for two days until you get prescription for carbamazepine-ER.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
